Creative Writing Quote of the Week episode 4: Stephen King 'set loose the monsters
This week's quote of the week is from the wonderful Stephen King once again; the inventor of scary clowns and master of horror. This is what he has to say:
"I try to create sympathy for my characters, then turn the monsters loose."
In Stephen King's case, of course, these are literal monsters. But you can also think of these as difficulties and problems that your character needs to overcome.
So, follow King's advice - make us care about the character then release those monsters!
To enter the competition there are two easy stages:
1. Join my skillshare short story course via the following link http://skl.sh/2Bh7Wp0 - and get two months free premium access to Skillshare, with lots of other courses including my 'Kickstart your novel' course
2. Post a class project, which is a 6 word short story, by 1st January.
Win a critique of your own 2000 word short story. Good luck!
